Aesha Turner – Student Representative
My name is Aesha Turner and I have a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a master’s degree in health promotion management from American University in Washington, D.C. I am working towards a doctorate in health education at A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) College of Graduate Health Studies and expect to graduate in 2017.
In addition, I am currently an adjunct instructor teaching health education concepts to students enrolled in the MPH program at ATSU. My full-time position is also at ATSU working as an Executive Assistant. My experience working at, while attending, a university has helped shape my long term career goals. I aspire to teach at the collegiate level and possibly pursue an administrative role in academia. My short term goals are to gain leadership and teaching experience. I have several years of health promotion and health education experience. I worked for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute’s Health Information Center providing educational information to the public and health professionals. I have also been a program manager for a national health screening company.
Prior to moving to Arizona in 2010, I worked as a health educator for the Alabama Department of Public Health. I am married with two children, ages 6 and 11. I am looking forward to getting to know all of the AzPHA members through meetings and conferences.
